We launched our "Sponsor a Swimmer" initiative and have had a fantastic response!
Fact: swimming has the power to help people live longer, better, happier lives – and as regular sea swimmers we know that swimming in natural, outdoor water like the sea turbo boosts this power.
However, while the sea is there for all of us its power is not reaching us all – for example 95 per cent of black adults and 80 per cent of black children in England do not swim. We want to be part of changing this and we want as many people as is possible benefitting from the cold water and community that goes with outdoor swimming.
It turns out lots of others feel the same as and some wonderful swim/sea businesses have partnered with us to SPONSOR A SWIMMER covering course and kit in the pool. We will aim towards introducing them to the sea and our sea swimming community in the hope that we will have them hooked!
Get in touch if you would like to join us in this mission and can sponsor a swimmer on low/no income to have a course of lessons, transport to the pool and swim kit like hat and goggles. You will be part of sharing the swim love and making the swimming community a more diverse and inclusive one!
We would like to thank our sponsors:
Snugbud - the wearable hot water bottle carrier/cover that is AMAZING for outdoors swimmers.
Ocean Sports Boardriders - Brighton's best spot for surf and watersports gear.
View Goggles - game changing goggles with anti-fog technology from Japan. Comfortable and clear - we at Seabirds love them.
Brighton Beach Bikes - Hiring bikes on the beaches of Brighton & Hove for over twenty years, so well placed to offer you the best advice on places to visit, places to eat and anything else you might be interested in during your visit. Whether it’s before, during or after your ride.

Mother of all movement: Podcast by Kathryn Meadows
In this week's episode I chat to Cat and Kath from Brighton based social enterprise "Seabirds Ltd" - they are an online store selling plastic free, life-enhancing products with fun designs, and they raise money for local charities. Run by 3 women who have made a recent connection to the sea through their children's activities, they made the decision not to let the kids have all the fun and actually get in the water themselves. They have been challenging themselves to swim throughout the year and in this chat we talk about the benefits of swimming in the sea, what the water means to them, and why having a higher purpose with your work helps to motivate and inspire. Here are the links for things we talk about: Find out about the Seabirds products here: https://www.seabirdsltd.com Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club: http://brightonslsc.org Surf Solace Charity: http://surfsolace.com More about cold water immersion therapy: https://www.wimhofmethod.com/practice-the-method

BEER YETI BEER BLOG:
CHECK OUT THE SEABIRDS STAINLESS STEEL PINT!
So with festival season in full swing, the rain has finally come and it wouldn’t be fun without some mud and rain right? But one thing that puts a REAL downer on the party is having to drink a decent beer in plastics! But when Seabirds sent us two of their Stainless Steel Pint cups, perfect for festivals, we were immediately WOWED!
Seabirds was set up by 3 women in Brighton who swim in the sea all year round. Seeing the benefits that the sea had on both their mental and physical health, they decided to set up a charity where the profits from their eco-friendly gifts go to sea swimmers and taking young people into the sea to boost their well being and confidence.
We poured a cracking brew (the new Flat Out from Anarchy Brew Co.into the pint). The feel of the pint was nice, light and the head of the brew retained really well. The rolled lip makes it really pleasant to drink our of, not like those rigid plastic cups can be! The pint also doesn't deter from the flavour of the brew and it stays chilled throughout.
We LOVED it! Its unbreakable, reusable and perfect for picnics, festivals and having a pint on the beach! SO GET YOURS NOW!
